Lil Boosie Found Not Guilty In 2009 Murder
Tuesday, 15 May 2012 10:53

Rapper Lil Boosie has been behind bars for several years, facing a slew of different charges. But, he finally got some good news this week, when he was found not guilty in his murder case in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

The trial for the murder of Terry Boyd began on Monday (May 7) with opening statements from both sides, and just five days later, a verdict has been reached: not guilty.

According to local news station WAFB9, the jury deliberated for around an hour on Friday (May 11), and came back, finding Boosie (real name: Torence Hatch) not guilty of murder.

The rapper and his defense team embraced and began crying when the verdict was read, understandably overcome with emotion. Supporters cheered outside the courtroom.

Boosie was indicted on first degree murder charges in mid-2010 for the shooting death of Terry Boyd in October 2009. Prosecutors said the rapper hired Michael Louding, also known as "Marlo Mike," to kill Terry Boyd. The 35-year-old was shot to death through a window while inside his home.

However, the prosecution could not prove Boosie's involvement although they called 27 witnesses to the stand during the week-long trial.

His attorney Jason Williams said, in court, that investigators had no proof of an alleged beef Boosie had with Boyd; and accused them of targeting the rapper to land a high-profile arrest and possible conviction. "What's bigger than a rapper going down for murder?" Williams stated.

He also told the jury no one followed up on the lead Terry Boyd's mother gave, until last year. By that time, the man she told them to talk to was dead. Officers also said they never read the Terry Boyd file, but they were investigating.

Is 2 Chainz Signed To Kanye West's G.O.O.D. Music Label?
Tuesday, 15 May 2012 10:49

Is 2 Chainz signed to Kanye West's G.O.O.D. Music or not? That's the million-dollar question right now, especially after Ye sent out on Friday (May 11) adding to the speculation.

The Chicago hip-hop superstar fueled rumors of a deal between 2 Chainz and his G.O.O.D. Music imprint via a brief comment on Twitter (@KanyeWest) Friday, when he wrote: "2 Chainz is charging 100k for a verse now cause he's G.O.O.D!!!!!!"

Despite Ye hinting at his addition, 2 Chainz still won't confirm or deny his affiliation.

The rapper appeared on Bootleg Kev's Las Vegas radio show shortly after Kanye's tweet on Friday, and addressed the G.O.O.D. Music rumors, leaving things as unclear as they were before the interview (#SMH).

"He just saying like I'm good, like I'm ill," 2 Chainz said. "[Me and Kanye] was talking, and I was like, I think I was jeopardizing my brand sometimes by doing the homeboy special (referring to collaborations). I think he just felt like we should just put that out there that we ain't doing no more of that. You too good..."

As 2 Chainz continued, he explained why his guest appearances will be far and few between from here on out.

"I would of done almost anything a couple months ago. It was really about reaching out, but you know ... I still will, I'm still grounded, but it just makes sense for me to slow down a little bit being that I got an album [Based on a T.R.U. Story] coming out August the 14th."

Before the interview ended, Kev did push for an answer about the G.O.O.D. Music rumors, 2 Chainz refused to answer.

"I love the element of surprise... I'm still into the element of surprise, so you just gotta [stay tuned]. My official statement is I got an album coming out August 14th, Based On A T.R.U. Story."

There you have it folks, we'll have to stay tuned. 2 Chainz is signed to Def Jam, and Kanye's G.O.O.D. Music is distributed through Def Jam, so the connection may very well happen.
